New York City Establishes Office of Digital Assets and Blockchain to Foster Crypto Innovation
Mayor Eric Adams has signed Executive Order 57, creating the Office of Digital Assets and Blockchain—a first-of-its-kind municipal department in the U.S. The MOVE signals New York's aggressive push to dominate the digital finance landscape.
The office will operate under Chief Technology Officer Matthew Fraser, with blockchain policy expert Moises Rendon at the helm. Its mandate includes advising on crypto regulation, coordinating inter-agency blockchain initiatives, and bridging the gap between policymakers and industry innovators.
"Blockchain can empower underbanked communities while cementing our status as a global fintech leader," Adams declared. The initiative aligns with his vision to make NYC the world's preeminent cryptocurrency hub.
